Hip Hop/R&B news

What's the new exclusive Hip Hop/RnB news with my site?

Fugee affiliate, John Forte has been arrested for allgedly shipping coccaine!!! With the help of two women, Forte was attempting to ship 14 kilograms of cocaine in a couple of suitcases. Forte and the two women were caught with the contraband the DEA when the two women gave Forte the two suitcases. Forte's bail was set to ,000 which was posted promptly by his mother and manager. Forte is now under 24 hour house arrest at his mother's house. Forte now faces a court hearing where is likely to face up to three life sentences in prision. Doesn't look too good for him does it.

Westcoast based Hiphop group, Jurassic 5 have been involved in an accident while heading to Houston in their bus. The accident was pretty serious after the bus driver had fallen asleep and driven into a 6 foot ditch. Marc7 Even, Akil and Charli 2na were all injured in the accident. Marc7 Even and Akil were treated with minor wounds, but Charli 2na had to undergo surgery after facturing his skull. We all wish him well and hope he has a speedy recovery.

In a recent interview, Mobb Deep's Prodigy spoke about his album again. He said that the album has no set release date and that although the album is finished, he is churning out new tracks for the "H.N.I.C" album. He spoke of no dispute over money over the reason for the delay and said that he wanted to get the album out at the right time. Expect appearances from Noreaga, Nas and Bounty Killer with the rest of the appearances to be kept in-house. Prodigy also said expect the "H.N.I.C" movie to drop shortly too.

Michael Schawarz's, RuffNation Records are set to drop a bunch of albums by the end of the year. The former joint RuffHouse CEO will release Major Figga's "Figgas For Life" on August 22nd as you all know. Expect RuffNation to finish the year with a release from R&B group No Question on September 5th, DJ Muggs' "Soul Assassin's project on September 26th and to round the year up with The Outsidaz album "The Bricks" on October 31st. No info on solo album's from Young Zee and the long delayed "One Life" album from Pace-Won, but I'll keep you posted on that. Also watch out for the "Bait Soundtrack" (a movie starring Jamie Foxx) to drop from the label soon.

R&B producer, She'kspere (AKA Kevin Briggs) has started up his own record label under Arista Records. She'kspere, famous for producing the majority of track for Destinys Child's previous release "The Writing's On The Wall" has yet to give his label a name. Should be some nice act's coming from that label in the near future.

Cash Money Records will finally drop their "Baller Blockin'" soundtrack on September 12th. The straight to video movie soundtrack will have appearances from Nas, Hot Boyz, Eightball & MJG, CNN, E-40, Big Tymers, Mack 10 and TQ. Also, a rumoured date that was e-mailed to me, apparently BG will drop his new album the week after, very unlikely, but possible.

Amil's debut album "All Money Is Legal" has been delayed until the end of September. The album is complete and you can peep the tracklisting's in the Album Previews section. Reason's for the delay is unknown, but it's probably over promotion or something like that. You can also listen to a preview of the album at Amil's official website. Doesn't sound very good at all, but I'll make you the judge of that.

Apparently, U-God has seven tracks which didn't make his album Golden Arms Redemption last year. I hear the reason why these tracks never made the album was due to his label, Priority Records, not feelin' the material he did for the album. As a result, U-God was forced to drop these tracks and put in filler tracks. Don't fear though, these tracks will not go un-heard and should appear on future Wu compilation albums. Props to Mr. Icon for the news.

In even more Wu related news, I am now hearing that the Deadly Venoms have indeed finished their fortchoming album "Pretty Thugs", but the album was delayed due to the fact that there's a rumour that Dreamworks Records have dropped them from the label !!! I also hear that one of the members has parted company with the group, so don't expect that album to drop anytime soon. If this is true, there may be a chance that Deadly Venoms will be picked up by 36 records, you never know. Props to Planet Meridian for the info.

The Up-In-Smoke tour is beginning to lose steam after the departure of Ice Cube. Ice Cube currently has filming commitment's with his new movie "Ghost Of Mars" and with the tour being extended a further three weeks, Ice Cube had to drop out and continue filming the movie.

Finally, there has been mass confusion on when the Lil' Zane debut album "Young World: The Future" will be dropping. Well the official date is August 22nd again. The Lil' Zane website had made a typo and said that the album would be dropping on September 22nd, but this typo has been fixed, the date is August 22nd.

News On August 2nd

After a bit of a hiatus on the news front, I'm back to report some news which has been circulating recently. Check out the updates we have been having over the week also, too much to report here. The Album Previews was updated with tracklisting's of C-Murder's new album "Trapped In Crime", props to Massive for the listings. Also updated today was the Release Dates section. Watch out for some crazy audio coming to the site in a hot minute, some nice exclusives. Remember, you can get your own Y2Hiphop.com e-mail address for free by clicking here. Okay, read on for the latest news update...

As you may know already, The Wu Tang Clan album is scheduled to drop on November 7th although that may be pushed back to the 21st, the date previously announced on the site. They have a new working title for the album now, it is now called "The W" and will only be a single disc album, Busta Rhymes is said to be making an appearance on the album. The Wu are currently on tour to promote the new album (as if they'd really need to do that). Props to Mr. Icon for the news.

Some more Wu news all courtesy of my man Mr. Icon. The reason why the Deadly Venoms have delayed their album "Pretty Thugs" is due to the fact that it isn't finished yet. The female quartet are currently in the studio putting the finishing touches to the album. Masta Killa is hoping to get his new album out by October, but it seems very unlikely that will happen. Expect the album to drop sometime after the Wu-Tang album. Finally, it seems that every Wu affliated artist has moved to the new 36 Records label run by The RZA. The roster now includes (or will include soon), the following: Street Life, La The Darkman, Sunz Of Man, Wu-Syndicate and more. Watch out for a whole bunch of compilation albums from the Wu in 2001.

Salt & Pepa have split up, apparently the two veteran female MC's are no longer together. The split will obviously finally result in solo albums from the pair. It has been advertised in the latest edition of Source Magazine that Salt is preparing a solo release called "Salt Of The Earth". It will be released on her own record label "GavFam Records" sometime next year.

M.O.P's fourth album "Warriorz" has been delayed, as announced a few weeks ago, to September 26th. Various reasons why this may have happened, one may be due to the fact that Loud Record's, M.O.P's new record label, wanted to promote the album a bit more and also release another single with hopefully a video. Another reason could be to avoid a clash with LV's album, another artist signed to Loud Records. Either way, all Mash Out Posse fans will have to wait a while longer for the new album. Can't wait that long, check out the Rap Audio section for exclusive M.O.P audio which was put up last weekend.

Busta Rhymes is already setting plans to release yet another album. He says that he'd like to get another album out this year, but has admittedly said himself that it is unlikely to happen. He has been getting support from his family to go ahead with the project, but I guess only time will tell. In my opinion, Elektra records probably wouldn't allow it. The next project from the Flipmode Squad will be the second Flipmode Squad album which is originally scheduled to drop on Labour Day (holiday in the US), which is September 5th, but is most likely to drop sometime after that. Roc Marcy is expected to be the next Flipmodian to go solo in 2001.

Bee Mo Easy, the reocrd label from Easy Mo Bee, is finally beginning to make some moves. The next release from the label, following Easy Mo Bee's own release, will be from Bad Azz. His long delayed album "Personal Business" will finally see the day of light on October 3rd. Expect appearances from many of the big Westcoast based affiliates on this one.

That damn "Hard Knock Life" documentary will finally be released in cinema's in the US on September 6th. The documentary has been screened to some of Jay-Z's friends exclusively already, which features coverage of the 1999 Hard Knock Life tour. The album which accompanies the documentary is still scheduled to drop August 29th, the tracklistings are available on the site.

A new Juvenile album? Well not quite I think. CDNow have a new Juvenile album listed on their site called "Playaz Of Da Game". However, it sounds like that this is another one of those remix albums as the album is being released on D3 Entertainment.

Finally, the rapper with the allgedly, worst album ever, Young MC is making a comeback with his fifth album. The new album "Ain't Goin' Out Like That" is expected to drop on September 12th. The title suggest's that he ain't leaving the rap game on a low note. For all those who don't know, Young MC's previous album "Return Of The One Hit Wonder" scored an all time low of ONE mic from the Source magazine back in 1997.
